If you could sum up your wedding in three words, what would they be?
Love, Happiness & SO MUCH FUN 🙂
Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
We booked almost everything for our wedding online without seeing it. So, we took very big leaps of faith, but kept reminding ourselves the ONLY thing that matters is being married so if something we booked was a flop…oh well! Thankfully, our bookings and the day worked wonderfully and we were so happy with everything, but for anyone out there reading this thinking we had it all together planning…just a friendly reminder having faith is a beautiful thing 😉
For our ceremony we selected Our Lady of the Rosary Church. The grooms parents are active parishioners and it is one of the few churches we have both attended mass together in.
For the reception, we looked at many different options all over the city. After much consideration, The Arbor Room was our favorite. It had in house catering and bar, rentals provided, five minute drive from our ceremony and one big room with a small outdoor space. We looked at pictures online and BOOKED without seeing it in person 🙂
What was your favorite wedding detail?
It felt like us. At the start of planning we talked about our priorities. We made sure our wedding hit those priorities and we let go of any other expectations that “weddings” hold. If something was traditional, but didn’t align with our values and vision we didn’t do it.
What is your favorite wedding memory from the day?
Everything. I know how that answer sounds, but the whole day brought us so much joy. Before the wedding so many people would tell us, “all the planning is so worth it.” We didn’t believe them. Not that planning was terribly hard, but we didn’t believe that one day could be better then all our other days together. The wedding was incredible. Every single moment felt special. Even the simple acts felt special. Whenever we look back on our wedding day, all we will think about is the pure joy and love we felt.
How did you incorporate your personalities into your wedding celebration?
My (the bride’s side) is 100% Irish with over 20 people traveling in from Ireland for the wedding so we wanted to include some special Irish touches into our day! We had a bagpiper to play for our ceremony exit. At the reception during the band break we played Irish music.
We didn’t have signature cocktails, but instead made a sign sharing the bride and groom’s favorite drink conveniently drinks that were already part of our bar package 🙂
Last and most importantly, we wanted to make sure our wedding felt like us by focusing on what ACTUALLY important to us. Getting married and celebrating with all of our favorite people in one place having a wonderful night out. BEST DAY EVER 🙂
