If you could sum up your wedding in three words, what would they be?
Classy, Festive, Loving
Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
We liked the character (rustic, lots of wood, naturally beautiful) that was already part of the venue. It was one of the more masculine venues we looked at and was the only venue of many that we both fell in love with within minutes of walking in. We also love the location, near our home in our favorite part of New Orleans.
What was your favorite wedding detail?
Having the fireplace lit, especially during the reception once the sun set.
What is your favorite wedding memory from the day?
Beforehand: our dog Faru joining for pictures
During: making each other laugh during the first dance
How did you incorporate your personalities into your wedding celebration?
We chose to go simple and masculine. We did not want any flowers in the venue, instead using greenery and lots and lots of candles. We had a brass band to encourage plenty of dancing, made non-traditional decisions (like having attendants walk in groups of threes that made sense instead of pairing with one from the other side), brought in a Roulaison punch to represent the reason we ended up in New Orleans, and used a book of Wes Anderson movies as a sign-in book.
What is your wedding song?
“You are the Best Thing” – Ray Lamontagne
