What adjectives best describe your wedding?
“New Orleans” rustic elegance

Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church is over 250 years old. It is the church I was raised in, made all my sacraments, and dreamed of walking down the aisle my whole life.
Our reception venue, Maison de Tours, is located on the church square across from the church. The venue has been restored to its original 1855 splendor with an open courtyard featuring a cascading fountain and balconies showcasing beautiful views of the church square.Ultimately, I chose the venues for their historic charm. I wanted guests to feel like they were in New Orleans.

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
My favorite purchase was the Bunk Johnson Brazz Band. The sounds of their instruments filled the air as soon as the church doors opened, setting the scene and tempo for the rest of the night!!!

What was your best wedding day memory?
By far the best part of the whole night was when Quaid convinced me to go upstairs for a bite to eat. While waiting for the keys on the small balcony over looking the courtyard with all our wedding guest, The band began playing our wedding song, We enjoyed an impromptu moment just the two of us.

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
We enjoy playing games with our families and friends, so our sign-in was large “Jenga” blocks for guests to sign. All the details showcased our personal rustic style. With everything from bull horns and cowhides to sugarcane stalks and feathers.

“Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton

What adjectives best describe your wedding?
Warm, Rustic, Elegant

Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
The Chicory had the perfect combination of rustic elegance we were looking for. It was also important for us to have everything in one place for ease of planning with so many out of town guests (including the bride and groom). The Chicory did an amazing job and the food was great!

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
Probably our rings 🙂

What was your best wedding day memory?
Too many to pick a favorite! The send off at the end was pretty amazing and we loved getting to ride in pedicabs on the way to and from the ceremony. If we had to pick a favorite, I think it would be the ceremony itself. John Cromwell was the best officiant we could have imagined!

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
I pinned a charm of my deceased grandmothers into my dress. That was very meaningful. I feel like our personalities were incorporated by having John perform the ceremony. He really captured our relationship. Also, having Pink Fries Paperie make custom menus, programs and place cards allowed us to be part of the creative process.

Was this the dress you initially thought you’d wear for your wedding?Actually, Initially, I was in search of a more full, all lace dress. Each dress I would try on was beautiful but didn’t feel like me.

Tell Me About Your Dress! Why did you choose this look?
decided on this dress because of its simple silhouette and amazing all lace back and sleeves. The boutique  just received this dress and designer in their store so, I tried it on right off the mannequin and knew I found the right dress!

How do you feel when you put on your dress?
Wearing this dress makes me feel elegant yet still simple.

Why did you choose this particular bridal session location?
My high school alma mater is just down the street from the estate, and I have passed this location numerous times. It was always that “beautiful, white house on Lee Lane.” It wasn’t until I was searching on AirBnB that I realized you can rent the entire property and so I did for me and my bridal party to get ready on the wedding day. The owners were extremely gracious enough to allow me to have my bridal session on the property as well. I am so glad I did! The grounds are absolutely beautiful and like a small oasis in the middle of downtown Covington.

Any advice for future brides embarking on this wedding journey?
Enjoy every minute of the wedding journey and embrace opportunities to include your fiancé in decision making and details. Thomas had amazing ideas!

With the flooding in Louisiana, the ring shipment was a bit stressful…but Nic finally (with the help of his mother) was able to retrieve the ring from shipment! It was then transferred from his mom to Nic where he kept it safely in his possession! 🙂 Five days later on their way to Destin for a vacation with friends, he and Vict stopped for a night in New Orleans!

The plan was to get in early and head to a spot that meant so much to them right near the river. But as plans and life go…they had to improvise. Nic’s brother met them in the French Quarter and after Beignets they took a walk. Stopping along the river, not too far from their special place where he had originally intended to propose, Nic took Victoria’s hand and asked her to marry him!

They cried, laughed, hugged, and spent the next several days celebrating the start of this journey together.

Vic and Nic are close friends of mine so it was especially unique and fun to be able to photograph their engagement session in the French Quarter! <3 We played music, we danced…and we finished the session at Pat O’s. I would say it was a pretty perfect day and I’m so thrilled to be able to share my favorites!!

Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
They literally took care of every single wedding detail you could think of. Not to mention it was absolutely breathtaking!!..and the food was AMAZING!

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
My wedding dress was my absolute favorite wedding purchase. I felt so beautiful in it!!

What was your best wedding day memory?
My favorites wedding day memory was walking down the aisle, and having my veil whip in the wind and get all tangled in my dad’s face. Yet, this all happened while keeping my eyes on my new husband and seeing the tears!

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
We are both very simple people. We kept it as simple and sweet as possible. We incorporated Josh’s two favorite things in the whole world: LSU football (grooms cake), and that he is a hard core deer hunter.

Was this the dress you initially thought you’d wear for your wedding?
Not at all! Every detail was opposite of everything I had planned in my head all along! I imagined embellishments and chiffon or lace- something ethereal-and definitely not strapless, and I ended up with strapless and ultra modern!

Tell Me About Your Dress! Why did you choose this look?
As I was looking through dresses on the rack, the saleswoman was doing the same and pulled one out to ask if I wanted to try it on. I remember turning around to look at what she was holding up and immediately fell in love with it. The color-an ivory almost champagne color -caught my attention first, followed by the material and modern structure. This was all before I noticed it was a high low dress, so I died a little more after that!

How do you feel when you put on your dress?
When I put my dress on I feel like what I’m wearing on the outside, matches who I feel like I am on the inside. That’s the best way I can describe it. It feels like I’m wearing a perfect description of my personality. Although, I’m sure many people will be shocked by what seems like a daring choice for me, (I tend to dress very basic) I guess if I were to have my true personality come through in my clothing it would be this dress- The combination of the understated, minimal, classic vibes, mixed with the fun and non-traditional skirt. And what better day to feel the most like myself!

Why did you choose this particular bridal session location?
This location is special because it is also our reception venue. These photos were taken in the same place we’ll be having our first dance, visiting with all of our family and friends, and making memories on our wedding day. The space also goes well with the modern, structured vibe of the dress!

Any advice for future brides embarking on this wedding journey?

We loved the open area of the garden and the City Park tree still being lit from Christmas and the Oaks. It gave a really pretty wintery vibe.

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
Everything! Seeing all your plans and details come together is just a speechless feeling.

What was your best wedding day memory?
Dancing the night away with the people we love the most. Seeing all of our family and friends so happy to celebrate us. Also, the doubloon send off was such a cool moment! We both wanted a wintery wedding and we both got it being the coldest day of the year in New Orleans so far!! 33 degree low – made our dreams come true 😉

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
I did incorporate my grandparents in my bouquet using their picture charms. I also wore my late grandmother’s sapphire ring. She is the reason Bryan and I actually started dating after she passed.
Also, we got married on King’s Day which was the start of Mardi Gras season so of course we wanted to incorporate Mardi Gras masks, groom’s cake was the LSU king cake, our favors were mini-king cakes and ended the night with a doubloon send off!!! It was the perfect touch to Mardi Gras, being we are both from New Orleans.

Anne Elise + Michael originally met at Tulane. However, they were a year a part in school so for a short period of time after Michael graduated they spent time in two different states. The original plan was for them to stay in those places until after Anne Elise finished school..but Michael couldn’t wait! 🙂 Now, they are both officially Louisiana residents.

Michael proposed to Anne Elise in the courtyard of Tableu with their families waiting upstairs. Anne Elise shared the video, which was SO incredibly sweet!! You can view their proposal video at this link:

Anne Elise and Michael chose City Park in New Orleans for their engagement session because they loved the mossy oaks and variety in the landscape. We had such a fun day!!! …. I’m so thrilled to post a preview of their session:

Life has a really unique way of bringing people together. For Anna and Forrest, they were brought together because Forrest’s father was Anna’s freshman year professor in college…and at a later Halloween party they connected the dots over this mutual connection.

After the Halloween party, they continued to get to know each other and the rest was history. The day that Forrest received the keys to his house, he proposed as soon as they walked in. He even went as far as to put up their new last name in blocks on the mantle.

After the proposal, he surprised Anna with a gathering of their friends and family members at Tim and Tia’s in River Ranch.

We photographed their engagement session in Louisiana at Rip Van Winkle Gardens. It was a gorgeous day and we had so much fun exploring and documenting their love in the gardens of this venue. And seriously, how fabulous is this pink dress?! Below is a preview of their session:

After a two year whirlwind of falling in love, Kim and Andrew have gotten engaged!

Andrew left letters around town at some of their favorite places from earlier on in their relationship! The last stop was at The Horse Farm where Andrew was waiting for Kim with a question. 🙂

Kim says she cried so much but eventually able to say YES! Their families arrives shortly after and they celebrated with champagne.

We photographed their engagements around Andrew’s family home. It was nice being at a location that was not only beautiful but sentimental as well. I am sharing a few of my favorites below!

Was this the dress you initially thought you’d wear for your wedding?
Not at all! I swore I did not want satin.

Tell Me About Your Dress! Why did you choose this look?
After going to more than 7 shops and probably trying on 100 dresses (cried for 3 but still wasn’t sure)
I walked in to Ashley Renee Bridal. There, I tried on a few dresses and still with no luck my consultant Brittany said “Will you try satin?” My reply was “Sure, it’s the only thing I haven’t tried yet.”
My sister-in-law pointed to the satin dress in the window (my dress) and Brittany gathered a few others.
After a few tries i decided to put the dress back on with the veil, head piece, jewelry, etc. and I’m in the dressing room thinking/praying “God I really need a sign!”
The moment I walked out the dressing room, our wedding song was playing on the radio throughout the store and I immediately start crying! Everyone else thinks it is because of the dress but in that moment it wasn’t about the dress… all I could think about was dancing with Quaid on our wedding night! It was my sign!

How do you feel when you put on your dress?
Like a “bride.”

Why did you choose this particular bridal session location?
I chose the White Magnolia because it fit my style. I grew up on our family horse farm so i definitely wanted to incorporate that into my bridals and The White Magnolia was the perfect way for me to do that.

Was this the dress you initially thought you’d wear for your wedding?
Not at all! I originally wanted something with minimal lace, a high neck or sleeves. I didn’t really want strapless but Josh loves me in strapless dresses, so I kept an open mind. Soooo glad I did that!

Tell Me About Your Dress! Why did you choose this look?
I tried on many dresses and they were all just ok. Until my mom pulled this one off the rack. At first I wasn’t a fan, until I tried it on and saw how nicely it accented my curves 😉 I was in love after that!!!

How do you feel when you put on your dress?
I feel like a true bride. I feel completely beautiful when I’m in this dress!!

Why did you choose this particular bridal session location?
The grounds are beautiful and there’s plenty of different photo opportunities! Although Catherine could make any location look magnificent!!

Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
We are both very New Orleans. Ryan and I both love the city (we’re originally from there) so we decided to have something both intimate, special to us, and unique.

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
My dress!

What was your best wedding day memory?
My favorite memory is after all the craziness of the day has passed was when we were sitting in the limo going to take pictures. While sitting there, I remember just talking and looking at our rings while holding hands. I am so happy to be married. I really loved saying our vows, our first look and dancing at the reception to our song.

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
Our vows and the blue ribbon had our initials on it! Also, having Charlotte there was the perfect way to celebrate with our little family!

What is your wedding song?
“Not a Bad Thing “by Justin Timberlake.  I walked down the aisle to “Photograph” by Ed Sheeran which is also a song very special to us.

There is nothing quite like the view at The Grove Downtown. I love the way the Houston skyline intertwines with the greenery. It is also a very modern but elegant venue.

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
An antique aquamarine ring (my “something blue”)

What was your best wedding day memory?
The first look; It was so great to have that pause throughout the day and focus on the man I was vowing to spend my life with.

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
The florist used my collection of antique brass vases for our alter and centerpieces, allowing each arrangement to be inspired by its vessel. I chose the Leica groom’s cake as a nod to Gary’s love of film photography.

Nata and Meagan met in New Orleans at Ochsner Hospital. After dating a few years, they decided to go to school together where without him Meagan says she would not have been able to make it. 🙂 They have since graduated, and moved back to New Orleans where they started their lives together! They are each other’s best friends and say they could not imaging doing life without one another.

We photographed their engagement session at City Park with their two beautiful dogs. I had a lot of fun laughing with Meagan + Nathan!!

They have such incredible chemistry and really just enjoy being together. They made photographing them so easy! I am very much looking forward to their New Orleans wedding this coming Spring! Here are a few standout images from their engagement session:

We chose to get married in my home town of Franklin. I grew up in the Church of Assumption and I think that it is one of the most beautiful churches around! We wanted our reception to be close by and the Lamp Post seemed like the perfect spot!

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
The A-Team!!
We could not have chosen a better wedding planner, photographer, videographer, florist, caterer, or wedding band! We seriously can not believe that we were able to get the best of the best and how awesome everyone was. Our night was absolutely perfect thanks to our vendors recommended by Hannah!

What was your best wedding day memory?
Being outside, under the tent with everyone that we love! Everyone was having a blast with the awesome band!

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
We didn’t create any details ourselves. I think we incorporated our personalities by keeping it simple, but adding just enough to make it elegant and unique to ourselves.

Lauren and Ryan met several years ago at work and hit it off almost immediately! They are both ICU nurses with three dogs and the perfect chemistry.

Their “spot” has always been Jungle Gardens at Avery Island. On their days off they enjoy walking around the gardens and getting outdoors when the weather is nice! They carved their names in the bamboo on their first date, so when Ryan proposed he brought her to the same area.

They were looking for where they carved their names, but what Ryan pointed out instead…was his newest carving which read “Will You Marry Me?” 🙂

We returned to Jungle Gardens for their engagement session…an opportunity for them to make more memories (only this time, I was able to document those moments of them together!)

For the session, we were also joined by their ADORABLE daughter Charlotte! It was so much fun and I am absolutely thrilled to share their session below!

Ten years ago, Ashley moved to Baton Rouge to attend LSU. She has loved the city and made Baton Rouge her home. There in that city, she found a job working for a company where it allowed her to meet Charles.

She and Charles love their rescue puppies, Jack and Bruno (who they thoroughly enjoy spending time with). But their favorite dates are Sunday morning mass followed by a HUGE Sunday breakfast!

One day, Ashley left work to take their dogs to the vet and spent the rest of the afternoon home with her sick pup. Charles meant for them to take a walk that afternoon and proposal on a nearby bridge but since their evening plans changed…he had to come up with “Plan B.”

He stopped by the store to grab flowers and hung a sign for her that read “Will You Marry Me?” in their backyard. He made arrangements for dinner and before they left, asked her to join him in taking the dogs out. When she walked into the backyard to meet him, he was down on one knee with flowers and the sign hung behind him!!!

We photographed their engagement session at Windrush Gardens in Baton Rouge on an overcast day; but these two didn’t let the weather get their spirits down. Even when it started raining at the end of the session, we still had fun! I just grabbed my clear umbrella and we photographed in the rain. 🙂 I love these guys! <3

What adjectives best describe your wedding?
FUN, magical, enchanting

Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
I grew up near City Park and have always loved it. I knew that if we got married in New Orleans, it would have to be there. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous and the staff is amazing to work with.

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
I loved my shoes!!! I also loved the lace umbrellas we bought for our second-line (from Bella Umbrellas on Magazine St.) I love our wedding bands from Symmetry, especially the diamond one that was designed with them.

What was your best wedding day memory?
Our ceremony was so special. We had one of our best friends ordained in order to marry us and we still cannot get over how wonderful it was. It was also in the garden under the tree lit up by chandeliers. It could not have been a more beautiful night!! We also loved the Mardi Gras Indian Show/second line. They got everyone moving!

(Continue reading about Mia + Jay’s wedding in the text below their images!)

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
We wanted our wedding to be fun and personal. It started by having the best vendors! We feel like we made a personal connection with everyone we chose and were able to have the best team behind us. The rest was easy, being surrounded by our closest friends and family.

One detail that Jay and I really love was our guestbook. We (including our families) spent a lot of time gathering photographs of us. We compiled them into a our guestbook for our friends and families to go through and sign. It is so special to us!

A final detail we loved, though didn’t get to enjoy it to the fullest, was our cereal bar! Jay did not want a grooms cake. His favorite snack is cereal, so that’s what we had instead. It was awesome!
