Was this the dress you initially thought you’d wear for your wedding?
Not at all! I swore I did not want satin.

Tell Me About Your Dress! Why did you choose this look?
After going to more than 7 shops and probably trying on 100 dresses (cried for 3 but still wasn’t sure)
I walked in to Ashley Renee Bridal. There, I tried on a few dresses and still with no luck my consultant Brittany said “Will you try satin?” My reply was “Sure, it’s the only thing I haven’t tried yet.”
My sister-in-law pointed to the satin dress in the window (my dress) and Brittany gathered a few others.
After a few tries i decided to put the dress back on with the veil, head piece, jewelry, etc. and I’m in the dressing room thinking/praying “God I really need a sign!”
The moment I walked out the dressing room, our wedding song was playing on the radio throughout the store and I immediately start crying! Everyone else thinks it is because of the dress but in that moment it wasn’t about the dress… all I could think about was dancing with Quaid on our wedding night! It was my sign!

How do you feel when you put on your dress?
Like a “bride.”

Why did you choose this particular bridal session location?
I chose the White Magnolia because it fit my style. I grew up on our family horse farm so i definitely wanted to incorporate that into my bridals and The White Magnolia was the perfect way for me to do that.

Was this the dress you initially thought you’d wear for your wedding?
Not at all! I originally wanted something with minimal lace, a high neck or sleeves. I didn’t really want strapless but Josh loves me in strapless dresses, so I kept an open mind. Soooo glad I did that!

Tell Me About Your Dress! Why did you choose this look?
I tried on many dresses and they were all just ok. Until my mom pulled this one off the rack. At first I wasn’t a fan, until I tried it on and saw how nicely it accented my curves 😉 I was in love after that!!!

How do you feel when you put on your dress?
I feel like a true bride. I feel completely beautiful when I’m in this dress!!

Why did you choose this particular bridal session location?
The grounds are beautiful and there’s plenty of different photo opportunities! Although Catherine could make any location look magnificent!!

Any advice for future brides embarking on this wedding journey?
Slow down, take it all in and enjoy!! I got to the point where I was ready for it to be over bc I was tired of the stress. Believe me, it goes super quick and you will wish you can do it again and again!! Take in every single second!!!

What adjectives best describe your wedding?
Magical, Timeless, Pre-destined

Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
We are both very New Orleans. Ryan and I both love the city (we’re originally from there) so we decided to have something both intimate, special to us, and unique.

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
My dress!

What was your best wedding day memory?
My favorite memory is after all the craziness of the day has passed was when we were sitting in the limo going to take pictures. While sitting there, I remember just talking and looking at our rings while holding hands. I am so happy to be married. I really loved saying our vows, our first look and dancing at the reception to our song.

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
Our vows and the blue ribbon had our initials on it! Also, having Charlotte there was the perfect way to celebrate with our little family!

What is your wedding song?
“Not a Bad Thing “by Justin Timberlake.  I walked down the aisle to “Photograph” by Ed Sheeran which is also a song very special to us.

There is nothing quite like the view at The Grove Downtown. I love the way the Houston skyline intertwines with the greenery. It is also a very modern but elegant venue.

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
An antique aquamarine ring (my “something blue”)

What was your best wedding day memory?
The first look; It was so great to have that pause throughout the day and focus on the man I was vowing to spend my life with.

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
The florist used my collection of antique brass vases for our alter and centerpieces, allowing each arrangement to be inspired by its vessel. I chose the Leica groom’s cake as a nod to Gary’s love of film photography.

Nata and Meagan met in New Orleans at Ochsner Hospital. After dating a few years, they decided to go to school together where without him Meagan says she would not have been able to make it. 🙂 They have since graduated, and moved back to New Orleans where they started their lives together! They are each other’s best friends and say they could not imaging doing life without one another.

We photographed their engagement session at City Park with their two beautiful dogs. I had a lot of fun laughing with Meagan + Nathan!!

They have such incredible chemistry and really just enjoy being together. They made photographing them so easy! I am very much looking forward to their New Orleans wedding this coming Spring! Here are a few standout images from their engagement session:

Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
We chose to get married in my home town of Franklin. I grew up in the Church of Assumption and I think that it is one of the most beautiful churches around! We wanted our reception to be close by and the Lamp Post seemed like the perfect spot!

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
The A-Team!!
We could not have chosen a better wedding planner, photographer, videographer, florist, caterer, or wedding band! We seriously can not believe that we were able to get the best of the best and how awesome everyone was. Our night was absolutely perfect thanks to our vendors recommended by Hannah!

What was your best wedding day memory?
Being outside, under the tent with everyone that we love! Everyone was having a blast with the awesome band!

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
We didn’t create any details ourselves. I think we incorporated our personalities by keeping it simple, but adding just enough to make it elegant and unique to ourselves.

Lauren and Ryan met several years ago at work and hit it off almost immediately! They are both ICU nurses with three dogs and the perfect chemistry.

Their “spot” has always been Jungle Gardens at Avery Island. On their days off they enjoy walking around the gardens and getting outdoors when the weather is nice! They carved their names in the bamboo on their first date, so when Ryan proposed he brought her to the same area.

They were looking for where they carved their names, but what Ryan pointed out instead…was his newest carving which read “Will You Marry Me?” 🙂

We returned to Jungle Gardens for their engagement session…an opportunity for them to make more memories (only this time, I was able to document those moments of them together!)

For the session, we were also joined by their ADORABLE daughter Charlotte! It was so much fun and I am absolutely thrilled to share their session below!

Ten years ago, Ashley moved to Baton Rouge to attend LSU. She has loved the city and made Baton Rouge her home. There in that city, she found a job working for a company where it allowed her to meet Charles.

She and Charles love their rescue puppies, Jack and Bruno (who they thoroughly enjoy spending time with). But their favorite dates are Sunday morning mass followed by a HUGE Sunday breakfast!

One day, Ashley left work to take their dogs to the vet and spent the rest of the afternoon home with her sick pup. Charles meant for them to take a walk that afternoon and proposal on a nearby bridge but since their evening plans changed…he had to come up with “Plan B.”

He stopped by the store to grab flowers and hung a sign for her that read “Will You Marry Me?” in their backyard. He made arrangements for dinner and before they left, asked her to join him in taking the dogs out. When she walked into the backyard to meet him, he was down on one knee with flowers and the sign hung behind him!!!

We photographed their engagement session at Windrush Gardens in Baton Rouge on an overcast day; but these two didn’t let the weather get their spirits down. Even when it started raining at the end of the session, we still had fun! I just grabbed my clear umbrella and we photographed in the rain. 🙂 I love these guys! <3

Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
I grew up near City Park and have always loved it. I knew that if we got married in New Orleans, it would have to be there. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous and the staff is amazing to work with.

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
I loved my shoes!!! I also loved the lace umbrellas we bought for our second-line (from Bella Umbrellas on Magazine St.) I love our wedding bands from Symmetry, especially the diamond one that was designed with them.

What was your best wedding day memory?
Our ceremony was so special. We had one of our best friends ordained in order to marry us and we still cannot get over how wonderful it was. It was also in the garden under the tree lit up by chandeliers. It could not have been a more beautiful night!! We also loved the Mardi Gras Indian Show/second line. They got everyone moving!

(Continue reading about Mia + Jay’s wedding in the text below their images!)

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
We wanted our wedding to be fun and personal. It started by having the best vendors! We feel like we made a personal connection with everyone we chose and were able to have the best team behind us. The rest was easy, being surrounded by our closest friends and family.

One detail that Jay and I really love was our guestbook. We (including our families) spent a lot of time gathering photographs of us. We compiled them into a our guestbook for our friends and families to go through and sign. It is so special to us!

A final detail we loved, though didn’t get to enjoy it to the fullest, was our cereal bar! Jay did not want a grooms cake. His favorite snack is cereal, so that’s what we had instead. It was awesome!

Lauren and I met and I feel like we became instant friends. 🙂 It has truly been so much fun working with her for she and Ryan’s wedding! We photographed her bridals on a gorgeous sunny day at Rip Van Winkle Gardens; and were also able to grab some cute ones with she and her daughter, Charlotte!

Lauren’s dress is so STUNNING! I love the way it sparkles in the sunlight and the fact that she added the sleeves to complete her vision. It really is one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever photographed.

Lauren and Ryan tied the knot this past weekend in New Orleans in an intimate ceremony that I am already so excited to share! Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks for the blog post from their special day but in the meantime, here are a few of my absolute favorites from her bridal session!

What adjectives best describe your wedding?
Chaotic, Emotional & Amazing

Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
We chose St. Martin De Tours because I love historical places and the grounds there are just GORGEOUS.

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
Wedding cake – it was the cutest little thing at our reception.

What was your best wedding day memory?
My favorite wedding memory is my impromptu speech. I was so overcome with joy and happiness and wanted to let my family know how much I appreciated each of them and to thank everyone who was there to witness and share our love. After fifteen years of being together and countless inquiries from the world on our nuptials, it was like a happily ever after to a seemingly never-ending love story.

(Feel free to read more about Phuong + Duong below the images!)

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
The overall look of the reception – from the sign in table to the caged money box (made by yours truly) – I envisioned it all and my family helped to execute it day of.

I chose champagne – not gold – because I am moderately flashy. Blush pink because I am soft and pink and love anything cute. And ivory on account that it is a tainted shade of purest color – white. After all, we are imperfect and so was our wedding day! LOL

The groom was incorporated by way of him loving and agreeing with everything that I planned for our big day. As he should because that meant he got to take the easy road – I married a very smart man.

Was this the dress you initially thought you’d wear for your wedding?

Tell Me About Your Dress! Why did you choose this look?
I’ve always wanted something simple and classic. This was the first dress I tried on. I fell in love and was one and done!!!

How do you feel when you put on your dress?
Like the most beautiful girl in the world (sing that song while you say it out loud) 🙂

Why did you choose this particular bridal session location?
Bill and Christel Slaughter are my bosses. From the first time I pulled through their gate and drove up the driveway through their property, I new that would be where I took my bridals. It is the perfect setting with all of the oak trees and their home.

Any advice for future brides embarking on this wedding journey?
Don’t stress or over think anything. If something goes wrong or not how you thought, let it go. My ring broke and I almost sliced my left index finger off three days before my bridals session but there was nothing I could do so why stress out about it? Most importantly, just enjoy yourself!

We live in Miami and our friends and family are spread across the US so it was a destination wedding for us and for most of our guests. New Orleans is Cory’s hometown and the city now carries a very special meaning for both of us. We wanted our wedding to have good music and good food–and what better place than New Orleans for that.

We picked the JW because it was central and easy for most of our guests to explore the city and we loved the balconies overlooking Canal Street. We chose to have our ceremony at Academy of Sacred Heart because we loved that it was an intimate chapel with beautiful architecture and we were able to have the priest that married Cory’s mom and stepfather officiate our wedding.

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
I can’t pick just one! All of our vendors — they made the day possible and so memorable for us.

What was your best wedding day memory?
Seeing Cory’s face as I walked down the aisle. We also had a great time dancing at our reception and being surrounded by all of our closest friends and family on such a special day.

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
Cory and I love collecting koozies whenever we go to a new city so we designed a koozie as a wedding favor for our guests. We also really love music and sports so we worked really closely with our DJ to put together our wedding playlist and Cory also had our DJ give updates on the score of LSU game. One of our favorite details was a last minute decision to use a coffee table cookbook we have at home that Cory’s mom had bought us when we first started dating. We haven’t cooked anything from it (yet) but we used the book as our guestbook and had guest’s look through and sign a page with their favorite recipe. Now whenever we eventually decide to cook a recipe from it, we’ll have a sweet message from our guests.

For Matt and Ali, they knew they were meant to be almost immediately. They had both known great heartache and as a mom Ali wanted to find someone who loved her son as much as he loved her. On their first date, Matt listened and proved almost instantly to Ali that he was the type of man who was loyal and interested. He was interested in her and she was just as interested in him. Ali says Matt is the type of man who always puts her well being above his own..showing her a true love she never thought she would find. But watching him fall in love with her son has been the most beautiful thing. She says she could not imagine a better role model for her son, Gavin.

Matt knows Ali well enough to know that she does not care to be the center of attention. So, when it came time for him to propose, he asked in the middle of their living room in the home he bought for them. She was just finished getting ready for dinner when Matt called her into the room. He handed his phone to Gavin and got down on one knee. Gavin was busy trying to catch the proposal on video but forgot to press “record.” 🙂 It was such a sweet moment in their soon-to-be family home, and they spent the evening celebrating with their families!

We photographed their engagement session at Jungle Gardens on a lovely day. It was really nice having the chance to meet Ali and Matt in person…and of course, Gavin too! We took a few photos with the three of them (I was so impressed with how great Gavin was in front of the camera). We took a dip ‘n dots break and then finished with just Ali and Matt. <3 Perfection!

Cory and Jenci met four years ago at CrossFit Lafayette. Well, that is where Jenci says she met him at least. 😉 Cory says he met her 10-11 years ago at LSU while they were in college. It was their first year of college so for whatever reason Jenci could not remember…but Cory did not forget! 🙂 So, “technically” they met at CrossFit (at least that is what Jenci says). LOL They became friends first and about one year later, they went on their first date!

This past New Years, Jenci’s parents took her sister and their boyfriends on a vacation to California. They spent the first three days in San Dieog and then took a train to Beverly Hills. There they spent the rest of the weekend. Cory was waiting for the perfect moment to propose and he found it as they were hiking up to the “Hollywood Sign.” Jenci stopped everyone and encouraged them to take a photo. She said it would be the perfect spot for a picture of the city! She handed her mom the phone and took a photo with Cory. As she walked toward her mom to grab the phone back, Cory took her hand, pulled her back, gave her the sweetest kiss and wished her a Happy New Year. Then, he proposed!!! “Of course I said YES!” she says.

We photographed their engagements on the campus of LSU. And I could not be more excited to share their engagement session! Jenci’s outfits are SO perfect! We really had such a good time during the shoot, and I am incredibly happy for these two!!! 🙂

Six years ago, their journey began. Kennon asked Chelsie on a date and over time…they began to realize how great they were together as a couple. But to this day, they are still the best of friends! They live on a seven acre farm with horses, dogs and cats and spend lots of their time loving on their animals. They also enjoy outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, yard work, biking, hiking and horseback riding! These guys are active!! 🙂

For Kennon’s proposal to Chelsie, they were at Chelsie’s family ranch for Labor Day weekend. It is a beautiful piece of property, neighboring the Rio Grande with cliffs that look out over the stunning view. They make it a tradition to take photos at the top so as they were doing a “selfie” at sunset, Kennon got down on one knee and asked Chelsie to marry him!!

Because Chelsie and Kennon love the outdoors and farmland so much, they chose The White Magnolia as their location for engagements. It really was the perfect spot for this couple and I honestly can’t say I stopped laughing the entire session. Chelsie and Kennon are SO.much.fun. I am really looking forward to documenting their wedding day, but until then……here is a sneak peek of their engagement session.

There are some people in the world that exude joy, grace, and poise; Elizabeth is one of those people. She’s not only beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well…and since getting to know Elizabeth for her wedding I feel that I have gained a new friend. <3

I had the pleasure of working with Elizabeth for her engagement session with her finace’ Larry (which, by the way..they are SO sweet together!), for Elizabeth’s bridals that I’m excited to share below…and just this past weekend for her wedding. I am honestly sad that their wedding day has past, but I feel so privileged to have had the pleasure of getting to know them throughout this process.

Elizabeth grew up in the small town of Franklin so she opted to have her bridals photographed there at Oaklawn Manor! Aside from the fact that mosquitos basically follow me everywhere…LOL…the photo shoot couldn’t have gone more beautifully. We even created a photo of Elizabeth to match a photo of her mom in her bridal gown at that very same location!

I am so happy to present Mrs. Escagne!!!

Christa and Calvin worked together for five years before they became something more; Christa says that Calvin was her best friend before sparks flew!

Now that they have begun life as a couple, they call themselves the “modern day Brady Bunch” with a family of seven children combined. 🙂 They love their family, faith, traveling, hiking, eating, and the list goes on! <3

For Calvin’s proposal to Christa, they traveled to Las Vegas where Calvin planned a romantic dinner at a restaurant in the city. He made arrangements with the staff for their waitress to bring her ring with dessert. It was beautiful and just Christa’s style!

We photographed their engagement session in the French Quarter during their recent visit to New Orleans. I felt so honored that they asked me of all the talent in this area to document such a special time for them. We started their engagement session at the Ritz Carlton, grabbed a few on the street car line of Canal street and finished their engagements on Royal. We had SO. much FUN!

Mollie and Thomas were born and raised in Louisiana, but they traveled all the way to Texas to meet. It was July 4, 2012 … and it’s quite possible they “saw fireworks” when they met. 😉 Since meeting, they have been inseparable! They bought a house and a boat and then the ring followed shortly thereafter:

On April 26th,2016 they had plans to celebrate Thomas’s birthday. Dinner reservations were set for 8:00 at Ox Lot 9 and they were heading out the door around 7:30 when Mollie decided to give Thomas his birthday present. Thomas said he had something for Mollie as well and went to grab her an absolutely beautiful collection of pink and white roses. Mollie was definitely surprised (she actually thought he was planning to bring out a ring) lol! So when she went to walk out the door she was surprised again that he said he had something else for her and handed over a gorgeous canvas with a bride and groom painted in acrylic and gold leaf words “Will You Marry Me?” He then got down on one knee and asked her to marry him!

We photographed their engagements in one of my favorite and most romantic spots in New Orleans : City Park. We walked under the oaks enjoying the lovely weather and even made our way over to the Pavilion of Two Sisters for a few photos. It was a wonderful afternoon and I am so happy to be working with Mollie and Thomas during this special time in their lives!

What adjectives best describe your wedding?
Intimate, Romantic and Classic

Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
We were married at Immaculate Conception Church, which is a Jesuit church. I think the church is so romantic, fresh, and inviting. I love the brightness of the decor, the various flags hanging as respect to our different heritages. James is extremely proud of attending Jesuit High School, so that also made the church all the more special to us.

The Board of Trade was our reception venue. We went to see the site while they were setting up for another wedding one evening and it just felt so right! We loved the entrance, the courtyard, and the room itself. It felt like it was the perfect fit for my vision of our wedding.

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
My favorite wedding purchase would have to be a tie between my wedding dress, veil, and shoes. I had a very clear vision of the dress that I wanted to wear and decided that long sleeves with an interesting back were a must for me. Maybe not so surprisingly, it was a challenge to find long sleeved dresses in New Orleans. When I tried on my dress at Wedding Belles, it had everything I wanted and envisioned. After adding the veil and my shoes, I felt like a true bride!

What was your best wedding day memory?
If I had to choose one favorite wedding memory, I would have to say it would be James and I exchanging our vows. I was so nervous throughout the entire day and do not like speaking in front of people! However, when it came time for us to say our vows to one another, I had a complete wave of calm come over me. It was such a personal moment we were able to share with so many important people in our lives. That moment felt like a dream come true!

How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
I created the signage we used throughout the wedding with the help of my amazing sister, Lauren! My grandfather passed away several years ago and he always had a handkerchief handy, like a true gentleman. After he had died, I inherited one of his handkerchiefs, so I had his initials monogrammed onto it so I could have it for the wedding to feel like he was still there. James also was able to wear his grandfather’s cuff links for the wedding, which was very special to us. We both wanted to incorporate things that have meaning to us and our family into our wedding. I enjoyed adding all the little details to our wedding because I think that is what ends up making things more personal and a complete representation of us!

We were able to incorporate our personalities into the wedding with James’ grooms cake, our guestbook globe, and my processional song (to name a few). I loved James’ grooms cake because our beloved dogs were on it! I decided to use a guestbook globe since we love to travel and plan on seeing the world together. My processional song was important to both of us, we have attended many weddings over the years and I wanted something that was different and true to us! Surprisingly, many of our friends and family were confused about the whole concept of a “first look”. We wanted to be able to enjoy our reception and visit with our guests, so I’m very happy we did not let other people’s opinions change our minds about the first look because it is another great memory we will share forever!!
