Growing up with two older brothers, there were times that I just wanted to run around with the boys playing cowboys & indians….to throw away the sponge curls my mom had me sleep with and chunk the barbies. I was never a barbie girl anyway; if anything I would rather be in the boat or adding to my already growing list of bike-riding scars.
But as I grew up, I began to appreciate being a female. And I especially appreciate it now, seeing SO many brides find the love of their life and live out their dream wedding day, feeling more beautiful, loved, and feminine than ever before.
To narrow down ALL the great things about being a woman is pretty difficult, so I just picked out a few things that made me smile. 😉
- I enjoy curling my hair, putting on my make up, and dressing up for no particular reason.
- It’s ok to cry and to sometimes act on emotion.
- I can wear high heels and feel powerful when I hear them as I walk.
- It’s acceptable for me to spend an hour and a half getting ready, and to show up fashionably late.
- Jewelry will always be a “go-to” gift for Christmas.
- My heart is filled with compassion & sensitivity, my head with woman’s intuition.
- Every season is another excuse for new clothes.
- I enjoy being protected and taken care of by my man.
- It’s a surprise rather than an expectation when I can run fast, catch fish, or shoot a gun.
- There is no relationship that can compare to that of mine with my girls.
These are a few pictures that I snapped at dinner last night with a great group of women. We had so much fun just being ourselves and enjoying the night. And it really had me thinking about how lucky we are to be females. 😉
If only I can learn to knit, right Chrissy???!!! I’m looking forward to making this a weekly tradition.
Maybe one day I’ll learn to lift one eyebrow at a time, but for now, I’ll just enjoy being able to wear high heels.
What’s your #1 favorite thing about being a woman?
After talking to so many engaged couples… Being a woman is convenient because WE don’t have to propose and worry about refusal, try to hide a ring and keep it a secret… I can’t lie to save my life!
Also I wore 4 inch heels tonight for the first time in my life. You’re right… If I had a list, heels might just make it there;)
