It’s almost like picking a peach, or the perfect set of bananas, only much more difficult due to the strong emotional attachment of every moment and every memory.

By no means would I consider it easy, but it’s definitely not painful. I know that spending time soul-searching for the perfect album images can actually be a great opportunity to reminisce on the wedding day, and all the love and friendship that was exchanged.

I leave the peach and banana picking to my clients. As you can tell from my blog, I definitely walk away with my favorite images from the day, which include the most modern, dramatic, and artistic photographs that remind me of my experience. They complete this journal of a blog that records my journey through life and love for photography. But this album is theirs. And I want them to remember, every time they open it, the way they felt that day.

And so that’s my first piece of advice:

  • Choose the images that remind you of how you felt.

And not just of how you felt but of what you loved about the day; every painstaking decision was made with intention. Every detail was thought through. All decor, every color, each fabric is an extension of your style and your life. So that’s my second suggestion:

  • Tell the story through your image selections: Every tiny piece of it.

Sometimes it’s more powerful to choose one strong image than five that aren’t as strong. The coffee table albums are the place to display and really show the top, most beautiful, most important images. And filling the book with too many images can sometimes remove that level of importance from the images you do love.

  • Keep it simple and focus on the BEST images.

So I decided to feature a recent album with images chosen by Robyn & Scott from their wedding day.

The cover image is probably one of the most important images; it should definitely be a favorite from the day and can be anything from a specific moment to a favorite detail.

Robyn’s wedding took place at St. Charles, the gorgeous Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. I’m so happy she chose to feature an image of the location in her book. It really allowed the book to give the day a sense of place.

This image above is one of my favorites from her wedding because it shows off her beautiful gown, her stunning bridesmaids in their dresses, and was taking at the location of her preparation, the Carriage House in River Ranch.

As you can see, this spread above contains ONE image. One image and it tells SO much. It speaks of the church were the ceremony was held, it speaks of Robyn & Scott’s marriage to each other and to God as a couple, of their Union by Father Gary (who’s been around her entire life), and the support of their closest friends and family. In ONE image on ONE spread.

The image on the right is of Robyn & Scott’s first dance as husband + wife. As they walked onto the dance floor at City Club, everyone watched in awe of their love for one another. This is an image that I know will remind them of how they felt.
