Well, first off…Happy Mardi Gras, everyone!!! You’ll notice that I haven’t blogged the past two days. I spent yesterday bundled up on bed fighting a sinus infection. 🙁 Going to the doctor is NOT my favorite thing to do…but it was worth it when I found out that the sot and medication would help me fight through quickly enough to somewhat enjoy today’s festive holiday!!! Totally worth it.

Speaking of exciting events and news, we’ve been published on 100 Layer Cake!!!!

To reiterate from my previous post on the announcement:

“Submitting images for publication has become a part of my workflow. And although not every submission is accepted for publication, I do make this a part of my business because I believe that it’s special and important. Having a couple featured on a wedding blog allows for their story to be shared in yet another light. It highlights their relationship and shows off the ways in which they’ve incorporated their uniqueness into their engagement session and/or wedding day.

But submitting is only a part of the process. Wedding blogs look for the most exceptional work and the most unique approaches to a couples’ special day. They look for detail-heavy weddings/engagements and photography that features couples with a strong vision.

Recently I collaborated with several local vendors and a couple (my brother and sister-in-law) for a styled shoot. If you’re not familiar with the concept, a styled shoot is a staged environment designed solely to inspire brides planning their weddings. Typically, there’s examples of many aspects of the wedding day including florals, cake/desserts, and neat little things that you can bring into your wedding.

This shoot specifically was geared to inspire couples for the month of February with its Valentine’s Day theme and I am so excited that we’ve been accepted for feature.”

The shoot was quite a bit of work and I learned SO much from the process. This is the first time I’VE lead the styling and coordination of the shoot so it was a little off of what I’m used to and a lot more work! I am so thankful for the following vendors who participated…the shoot would have been a disaster without them!

Floral Designer: Root Floral Design / Cake: Katie Bakes / Paper goods: Val Marie Paper / Makeup Artist: Sara Buteaux / Headpieces: Joli Petale / Photography: Catherine Guidry / Models: Minette + David Guidry
