Growing up with brothers was….an experience. Instead of playing with barbies, I learned to row a boat and work a ping pong paddle. Instead of being into clothes, I was interested in hydrosliding and seadoos. They showed me how to win a table foosball game, dribble a basketball, and hike through their wooded trail to the camp across the canal.
And as I got older, they sat through my dance recitals….EVERY one of them (even though they made it pretty clear they had no desire to be there.) π They relentlessly waited hours for me in the bathroom that we shared on the mornings as I learned to put on makeup. And they sent me flowers for my birthday my senior year reminding me how lucky I was to be their sister.
Over the years, I’ve come to realize how true it is. I really am lucky. I had two brothers who looked out for me, who taught me to be tough, and were ok with it when I wasn’t. They let me tag along on vacations and SOMETIMES even let me hang out with them at home. π
My oldest brother, Scott, celebrates his birthday today. I spent the earlier part of this week sick on his couch and to this day he still makes fun of me…..and gets me a glass of water when I ask. π So to him, I wish the happiest birthday today! I am thankful to have been blessed with you in my life.
Scott, I hope you have the best and greatest birthday today. “Just sayin”…. π
