On the same day as their wedding, 10 years ago, Stephen finally met Megan. He had been hearing about her for awhile before they actually ran into each other at the House of Blues. And that night, when they finally did meet…Stephen began their introductions by stumbling into a trash can. Megan says that to this day it’s still one of her all-time favorite memories of him.

It’s been 10 years of getting to know each other, developing a friendship and a relationship that will stand the test of time. They enjoy the outdoors, running together, and the simple things in life…like laughter and oreos.

In the first five minutes of seeing them interact with each other, I was instantly aware of their connection. I’m so incredibly honored to have shared in their wedding day, documenting their relationship and a day spent with those they love most.

Their black and white color palette was integrated strategically throughout the venue. And of COURSE, Megan had her fair share of glam and sparkles (including her fabulous Kate Spade heels). Their wedding day could be described as fun, fabulous, and unique…and I am SO stoked to share this wedding post!

So, we’ll start with those fabulous Kate Spade shoes I mentioned above, and the symbols that represent their marriage : the rings.

The day was so relaxed. I spent the preparation time before the wedding with Megan….and Amelia was with Stephen. This way, we were able to really document all that was occurring simultaneously.

Megan is quite possibly one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever met. Seriously. Not only is she stunninglyg gorgeous but also…so kind and thoughtful. It’s rare that I saw her without a smile!

Megan’s friend Julia was kind enough to allow Megan, her parents, and her bridesmaids, into her home (which is right in the midst of the French Quarter). We had such a fun time laughing and just enjoying what Megan called “The Wedding Angel’s” hospitality.

On a wedding day there are so many small moments that occur…like the moment Megan first saw herself in the mirror. And…the moment that her sister Molly started to cry (even though it was against the “rules” they all made together for the wedding day.)

How incredible is this view?!

While we were downtown, Stephen and his groomsmen went into the quarter as well to shoot a few formal photos before the wedding.

I love the lace parasol and fan….they were perfect for the setting and for this beautiful bride.

The quarter served as the perfect backdrop for both Megan + Stephen’s photos…and the guys even had a few minutes to hang at the Carousel Bar inside the Monteleone before heading to The House of Blues.

The day was so laid-back and the weather was perfect! Oh…and the details of Megan’s dress : gorgeous!

The House of Blues has so much character! It was our first time shooting there…and I really enjoyed the variety in locations and the color spread throughout!

Megan + Stephen opted not to do a First Look, so this was the moment they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. His reaction was so sweet.

The ceremony was perfect, with lots of laughter and sentimental moments.

Megan, Stephen, and their guests headed to their reception via one of my favorite New Orleans traditions…the secondline!

When a couple chooses not to do a First Look, we also make sure to spend some time photographing outdoors after the ceremony. My experience is that couples really cherish these photos (and this time together).

With Megan + Stephen it worked out really well because there was still lots of natural light for us to shoot in. Oh, and a perfect location!

Megan’s favorite wedding detail were her invitations (seen below to the left). Megan designed and created the invitations herself so we emulated the drawing on their wedding day (seen right).

Megan is also the illustrator of the book When the Lights Went Out in the City! I feel lucky to be able to work with such a talented artist!

The House of Blues just has SO much character!

During the reception, Megan + Stephen’s dads dressed up as the Blues Brothers! So fun!

During the reception, the guitarist asked Megan to hold his guitar…while he played!!!

And as the reception came to an end, their friends & family lined up for the send-off!

And Megan’s parents gifted them with a lovely NOLA carriage for their getaway vehicle.
