St. John’s Church, Wolff Ballroom Wedding: Katie + Marcus

“I will love you every step of the way.” These words were written on the steps that led to the church where Katie + Marcus shared their vows, hand-written vows…straight from the heart:

I knew I would become your wife, and I know someday I will be the mother of your children. I will support you and promise to provide a trusting love.” – Katie

“I believe the day you said YES was actually a gift to me. I promise to be the best person I can be for the rest of my life. I am the luckiest man in the world to have you as my wife. I love you.” – Marcus

About 3 years ago, Katie + Marcus met through Katie’s stepbrother….and that was when their friendship began. And the moment Katie texted Marcus a picture of herself with deer blood on her face, Marcus knew it was love. 😉

On Halloween weekend, Marcus took Katie out for an LSU/Alabama bonfire and their love story continued. They dated long distance for awhile between Texas and Louisiana until Katie moved here to be with Marcus. Now….after all this time and their growth together, they are Mr. and Mrs. Meche.

Their wedding day was the perfect blend of rustic and vintage. The coral, peach persimmon, and turquoise color palette really popped against the neutrals of their details and created a colorful backdrop for their wedding. Katie’s favorite aspects were her dress, aisle runner, and burlap states….yet it was the way that everything came together that really made their day SO special. : )

UPDATE: I’ve had several requests regarding the aisle runner. This can be found on Etsy from Lexi Crothers.

I ABSOLUTELY adore the church where they were wed. The lighting, the architecture…all of it. LOVE. This aisle runner can be found on Etsy from Lexi Crothers.

 Katie’s Louboutin pumps.

I’ve never seen this tradition before but I will never forget it. Katie + Marcus filled this box with wine and 2 letters: one from Katie to Marcus and one from Marcus to Katie.

The box was nailed shut on their wedding day and is not to be opened until their 25th anniversary. If something tragic ever does occur along the way, they have the opportunity to open the box before making any rash decisions.

I think this goes down as one of my all-time favorite getting ready shots.

Amelia grabbed this super cool shot of Marcus and his groomsmen before the ceremony. Aren’t their boots Ah-mazing?!

Katie + Marcus opted to do a First Look…..this was the moment just before he saw her for the first time on their wedding day.

This was Marcus’s reaction when she opened the doors. 🙂 (From my perspective)

Do you blame him? Katie has this naturally beautiful look about her! AH! (From Amelia’s perspective)

Their first instinct was to come together…and to just hold each other for a moment. It was so sweet to document this for them.

After the moment subsided, we shot for a few minutes in the church!

I just love the way he looks at her.

RAWR. Katie, you look so beautiful!

The lighting…I die.

They always have so much fun together.

LOVVEE her centerpiece.

This is such a beautiful group of ladies…and the colors of are wonderful!

From Texas to Louisiana

Amelia grabbed this shot of Katie as her dad and stepdad walked her to her husband.

When the doors opened, all eyes were on Katie.

🙂

This church is SO beautiful!!!! And the aisle runner for Katie + Marcus really created the most stunning accent for their wedding.

There were LOTS of tears during the vows….

…….more tears…..

…….NOT a dry eye.

Their first kiss as husband and wife.

Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Meche!!!

As soon as they walked out the door, this is what happened. I think it’s so telling the way a couple reacts…when they think no one is looking. 🙂

Poenies…are. my. favorite.

Katie + Marcus held their reception at the Wolff Ballroom…it was so close to the church and such a cool venue that really fit their style.

When she looks at him…..

It was obvious from the emotion throughout the day that Katie + Marcus are truly loved.

Katie + Marcus’s cake….wow. WOW. wow.

This was SUCH a cute idea for them!

During the reception, Heather (Katie’s matron of honor) gave her toast to Katie + Marcus.

…and the reaction…

As a wedding gift, Katie gave her bridesmaids Tom’s to match the venue. She really did think through EVERYTHING.

“Move it like Bernie”

For their exit, Katie + Marcus decided to carry out the Louisiana tradition of throwing Mardi Gras beads! This was so unique…and seemed like so much fun for everyone!

….AND they’re off!!!! To celebrate their future together…..
