I lay in bed at night reading or watching TV shows. Last night, I watched a documentary that left me in tears before I fell asleep.
It’s a story about two brothers searching for light in a world that can at times be dark. Amongst the suffereing, they have seen forgiveness, hope, and love and have put together an absolutely beautiful film that reminded me of how connected we are. My mom used to always ask me why it was I thought I was so different? She used to say, “We may look different, and we may come from different places, but inside….we are all the same. We have the same fears, the same hopes, and the same desires for life.”
The brothers have documented this very concept through three separate experiences:
- Living homeless on the streets of New York
- Volunteering with the Lost Kids of Lima, Peru with Surf for a Cause
- Meeting in person the Lepers of Ghana, Africa
The film is beautiful and it makes me want to travel the world to better understand the ways that we live differently but are all the same. Below is a trailer for the film:
